Stegosaurus, Neo Latin meaning "roof lizard" refers to the armored plates on it's back. Lived during the the late Jurassic Period (140-156 million years ago) in Europe and North America. An extinct herbivore that averaged 30 ft. long, 9 ft. high at the hips and weighed about 5 tons. When threatened Stegosaurus would flush it's bony back plates with blood to intimidate it's enemy and when enraged strike it's adversary with a deadly blow with it's spiky tail.
